THE ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP
of Coal Creek Canyon
The Environmental Group (TEG)
was formed in 1990 and has been active in the canyon ever since. Our area of
responsibility is generally defined by South Boulder Creek on the north, Ralston
Creek on the South, Hwy.93 on the east and the Mt. Thorodin Divide on the west.
Our mission is to protect and improve the environment;
to promote open space and land conservation; to further and encourage
better ecological education; and to provide current information to the community
regarding the environment in which we live.
The Environmental Group is a
Corporation organized exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific
purposes. The group qualifies as an Exempt Organization under section 501(c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code. Our Employer identification number is
84-1153199.The Environmental Group is a member of the Coal Creek Canyon
Improvement Association.

*We
obtained a GOCO grant of $205000 to help acquire the Stevens property as
Jefferson County Open Space.
TEG
added $5000 partially from community contributions.
*We
provided aid to preserve forever 500 acres on the north face of Blue Mountain as
a conservation trust for open space and a home for the family of the original
owners.
*Recommended
section 16 on West Blue Mountain for the Stewardship Trust. It is now available
for a possible trail between Golden Gate State Park and Eldorado Canyon State
Park.
*Stopped oil dumping in Coal
Creek and aided in cleanup.
*Made
presentations to prevent the Rail Quarry and the installation of TV towers on
Eldorado Mountain.
*Members
attend meetings to prevent annexations at the mouth of our canyon and to
preserve THE MOUNTAIN BACKDROP.
*Assist
in programs at the local school and in the maintenance of our Community Center.
*Coordinated
two slash clean up weekends in our canyon for this year and for the last three
years.
*Our
group supports the Recycology Co. both financially and physically in their
bi-monthly recycle effort.
*A
committee is currently studying capabilities and looking for land to establish a
community park in our Canyon.
