MISSION:
Discussion
forum for conservation of lands in and around Rocky Flats
AREA
OF INTEREST: Centering on the Rocky Flats Buffer Zone but extending west to
the foothills, south to North Table Mountain, and including the open space areas
to the north and east.
Goals/Objectives:
·
Exchange
information and active participation between public land managers, land
owners/users, environmental groups and other interested parties.
·
Promote
compatible management and sound land use of both public and private lands;
ensure conservation in ranching and grazing, mining, petroleum drilling,
development, weed control, plant and animal introduction etc.
·
Utilize
existing information to preserve wildlife corridors and habitat.
·
Promote
measures to preserve and enhance existing ecosystems to support native plants
and animals.
·
Identify
highest environmental value areas for preservation.
Specific
Tasks:
·
Prepare maps
of the area of interest showing open space lands, private lands, and natural
resource values including such things as important geologic, archaeological,
historical, wildlife and botanical features.
·
Identify key
lands for connecting passages for wildlife, and unusual ecosystems.
·
Accumulate
existing baseline information and place on maps.
·
Reintroduce
former native animals and plants that no longer occur in the area, that should
be part of the natural ecosystems (for example, the sharp-tailed grouse.)
·
Prepare
environmental guidelines for development, reclamation, landscaping, and
revegetation for all disturbed areas, as well as areas that are developed.
·
Actively
outreach to bring property owners into the group.
